i heart faces....photo contest
06.30.09  |  Weddings

I have been working on albums for the past couple of days since returning from Engage '09 Grand Cayman and came across this website...i heart faces and this site host weekly photo contests so I thought what the heck. I am currently working on Erin and Josh's album so this photo was my inspiration...Josh and Erin chose to see each other before their ceremony. I think that it is a wonderful idea and it allows for some great "real" moments to be captured. If you are in question about this I promise you will never regret it!! I hope that every groom is as excited as Josh was to marry his bride Erin!! I hope that the two of you are doing great and I can't wait for you to see your album!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Kelli

Savannah Georgia Wedding Photographer-Stella & Brad
06.26.09  |  Weddings

How could I forget Stella and Brad? Kelli so kindly posted the images last week and with all my travel, I forgot. Crazy, isn't it?

Stella and Brad had a romantic evening at the Cathedral followed by a celebration at the SCAD River Club.
The whole wedding was so romantic. Stella, of course, was stunning and their were lots of happy tears from everyone...and I mean everyone.

This was her Grandmother's pin...they had the same beautiful name.

This little guy was so adorable...I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home.

Thank you for choosing us to share your day. We were moved by everyone we met and all the love around you.
Have a wonderful life!
DVB and Kelli

Michael Jackson
06.26.09  |  News

Well, all forms of my technology...iphone, facebook, twitter, radio, TV...were blowing up last night...with the news. Michael Jackson, dead at 50.

I found it interesting and even entertaining that not one person was indifferent. Most comments were sad but many were appalled by the outpouring for MJ. Many slapped labels on him....pedophile, sick, weirdo, molester. Good riddens, they said. Perhaps all those are true. Perhaps not. We will never know now.

I do know 2 things. He was most likely tragically misunderstood and he lived in a world that did not have one tiny spec of reality in it. How could he ever be normal? We, the public, made sure he couldn't and then crucified him for not being one of us. Like all people with the gift of genius, and even some great people, at the top of their game, in sports, entertainment, business, politics --they are celebrated or vilified.

Celebrated or vilified, I am sad that Michael Jackson is gone. I am selfishly sad for myself because yesterday, my youth took a heavy blow. When Grayson, all of 7, asked me this morning, "Mom, why is Michael Jackson so important?" I found my eyes welling and voice choking. I mean, really, as stupid as it sounds, it wasn't even like I was some huge fan. I don't even have an MJ song on my iPod....but, a part of my life died with him.

With his passing, I realized that all his music that dotted my discovery of myself and well, yeah, boys... my stumbles and triumphs...has ended. I just assumed that there will be a comeback, a reinvention and another MJ song will mark some point in my life. When I hear that song, I'll go right back to that moment, that night.

Thank goodness, Madonna and Prince are still alive!

Rest in Peace, MJ and thank you.

Engage 09 Final Celebration
06.25.09  |  News

Just a sneak peak at the final party for Engage 09: Something Blue. Amazing! Details to come after I catch up on my sleep. Love it when my flight gets cancelled 15 minutes before boarding, get another flight to a city 2 hours a away, rent a car and get home 4 hours later. But home none the less. Those 14-hour travel days are fabulous!

savannah georgia weddings-Briana and Todd
06.22.09  |  Weddings

Kelli and I are in Grand Cayman for Engage 09. We are learning a tremendous amount from wedding greats like Preston Baily, Marcy Blum, Darcy Miller and Carly Roney to name a few. There will be much to blog when we get back.

We finished out an incredible spring season with the wedding of Briana and Todd. Briana did an exceptional job of bringing together people that were close to her and Todd. Of course the details were amazing and the the event was flawless thanks to Karen Moore, re_Defining Moments, but the love in the room was overwhelming. I cried during the toasts. I laughed the whole night...I was just carried from one emotional moment to the next. It was such a blast.

Thank you for trusting me to capture every moment for you!
Love to you!
DVB
